EpiPen 0.3mg/0.3mL injection is a medical device that delivers a single dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) to treat severe allergic reactions, also called anaphylaxis. It is a pre-filled, auto-injector device that is designed for emergency use by people who have a history of severe allergic reactions.
The device contains a spring-loaded needle that automatically injects a dose of epinephrine when pressed against the thigh. The recommended dose for adults and children weighing over 30kg is 0.3mg of epinephrine. For children weighing between 15-30kg, the recommended dose is 0.15mg of epinephrine, which is available in a different strength EpiPen device.
EpiPen 0.3mg/0.3mL injection should only be used in an emergency situation and should be administered as soon as symptoms of anaphylaxis are recognized, such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, and a rapid or weak pulse. It is important to seek medical attention immediately after using the EpiPen, even if symptoms improve, as further treatment may be necessary.
