Understanding fertility with OVULATION-LH
What is the Ovulation-LH Test for?
The Ovulation-LH Test detects the levels of Luteinizing hormone LH in urine, determining the usual peak which precedes ovulation and then the fertile period.
What are LH and Ovulation?
Knowing what is optimum for fertility during the entire childbearing age can help you plan ahead. The time period between puberty and menopause, a woman's reproductive system undergoes a monthly series of important structural and functional changes. This happens because of the continuous changes in estrogen and progesterone hormone levels that are regulated by the Hypothalamus-Hypophysis-Ovary axis. These hormone concentrations are different during the 4 phases of the menstrual cycle: menstruation, follicular phase, ovulation and luteal phase. During the ovulation
fertility phase, which occurs around the 12th and the 13th day of the menstrual cycle, the level of estrogen in the blood is so high that the hypophysis starts to produce Lh hormones, thus determining the breakdown of the follicle and the release of the egg cell, ready to be fertilized. The egg cell remains fertilizable up to the next 24 hours."

How does the Ovulation-LH Test work?
The Ovulation-LH Test is a rapid immunochromatographic assay that detects LH (Luteinizing Hormone) through special gold-conjugated monoclonal antibodies included in the reactive strip, which makes it possible to predict the ovulatory period and increase the chances of pregnancy. The increase and release of the LH hormone leads to ovulation in the following 24-40 hours, the cut-off is set at 30 mlU/mL, which is considered the normal value of the hormone LH. Results in just 5 minutes.
1) Remove the protective cap - this exposes the absorbing tip.
2) Place the absorbing tip right under the flow of urine for at least 10 seconds.
3) Alternatively (if easier), urine can be collected in a clean, dry, residue-free container (not supplied) and the absorbing tip can be dipped into the urine for 10 seconds.
4) Place the protective cap back onto the absorbing tip. Wait for 5 minutes and read the result.
